Transitioning Technology Services to Drive Success During a Crisis
Background
A US-based expert for packaging engineering and serialization in food, beverage, CPG, pharmaceutical and medical device industries. The company is a leading recruitment and placement firm in packaging, and provides best-in-class engineering optimization, packaging design and strategic sourcing solutions for businesses.
Challenge
The company faced a situation where their lead software technology team member left the organization, and there wasn’t an on-team replacement available for this vacant role. This situation left the company with a partially completed software project and no clear understanding of the technologies used, where the code was stored, what an accurate view of the project status was and if any documentation was available. There were client demos being scheduled centered around this project without a clear way to deliver or move the project ahead.
Solution
Unista was brought in to understand and document the current status of the software, create a prototype in support of upcoming demos, and continue the development of a production-ready solution. We first worked on a fast turnaround prototype which was completed in 10 days. This led to a series of successful prospective client demonstrations and interest in a full solution. We then began a parallel project, researching the platform state while consulting with the company on the product differentiators, competitors and how it would be positioned in the marketplace. We partnered with their design team to update the product aesthetics in order to bring it into alignment with current branding efforts. After 12 weeks comprised of 3 sprint cycles, we were able to release a client-ready production version of their new platform, and began to support client onboarding and documentation efforts.
